Purchase For Purpose was born not from a business plan, but from lived experience. As a disabled veteran living with service-connected PTSD and a history of suicide attempts, I know firsthand the challenges of navigating the mental health system.
My partner, a survivor of domestic violence, faced a different but equally difficult reality: the financial burden of accessing quality mental health support.
Together, we came to a simple realization: millions of people are struggling, not because help does not exist, but because it remains out of reach.
From Pain to Purpose.
Like many families, we found ourselves searching for answers. As avid thrift shoppers, we began studying some of America’s most successful nonprofit organizations, including Goodwill and Habitat for Humanity.
What we discovered was remarkable: these organizations had built sustainable, community-driven models that generated millions, and in some cases billions, of dollars in revenue while advancing meaningful social causes.
The question that changed everything was simple:
We were not interested in reinventing the wheel. Instead, we chose to reimagine it by applying a time-tested nonprofit thrift model to one of the most urgent challenges facing our communities today.
